Hedingham Castle launches unforgettable Experience Days

The owners of the historic Hedingham Castle and surrounding estate are excited to launch the very first Hedingham Experiences – a collection of unique and magical interactive experiences based inside and around the ancient Norman keep – as part of a diversification project born out of the pandemic, which saw the majority of the weddings & events business’ revenue reduce dramatically during the lockdown periods.

There are currently three options to choose from including a local wine and cheese tasting experience set within the Castle and hosted by expert winemaker, Jane Mohan, owner of West Street Vineyard in Coggeshall, Essex. Guests will first enjoy a fascinating tour of the Castle, soaking up all its rich heritage, followed by an engaging tasting of seven local wines, including five produced by West Street Vineyard, alongside a selection of beautifully paired cheeses. This delightful foodie experience is made all the more special by being set within the iconic and atmospheric walls of Hedingham Castle.

The Hedingham Half Day and Full Day experiences are a combination of the immersive historic pursuits of Falconry and Archery, set within the beautiful grounds of the 120 acre estate. Guests have the opportunity to handle a range of birds of prey including falcons and owls and fly them to the glove. The full day experience also includes an exhilarating Hawk Walk through the ancient woodland. For the archery masterclass, guests will learn to shoot using handcrafted longbows and arrows against Medieval-themed targets; not only great fun, but allowing guests to connect with British heritage in a truly unique way, against the impressive backdrop of the 900-year-old Keep. Full day experience guests will then be able to try their skills in action with a fun ‘woodland hunt’, aiming at rubber targets positioned through the trees. Both experiences include a hearty lunch in the Castle and all equipment is provided. Minimum age is 10 years.

A fourth Experience, set to launch in 2022, is the exclusive Royal Chamber – a luxurious bedroom suite located on the very top floor of the Castle. More information to be released very soon.
