Designed by Lesley and John Jenkins since 1984, the garden is set around a Grade 2* 16th Century Hall (not open to the public) and has developed into an important modern garden in the English Garden tradition with echoes of Arts and Crafts. Covering 3 acres, it consists of a series of 14 linked garden “rooms” filled with modern and often specialist plantings.

The rooms are linked by almost exclusive use of perennials, but there are also recurring themes of beech and yew topiary. Design, scale and colour are important as is a wide range of plants. This has led to a significant collection of clematis, salvias and roses. Each of the ‘rooms’ has its own unique design elements with the sophisticated choice of plants being updated and refreshed yearly.

The gardens are open to the public from Easter until late summer, for three days a week and welcomes Garden groups in the days not open to the public. This ensures that all visitors can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the garden without feeling overcrowded.

The Garden has a Tearoom and Plant Sales area, with the majority of the plants being propagated onsite.
