The front steps to the Hall are quite steep so access for people with disabilities is via the back door. Notice should be given to the office so that ramps can be put down.
The ground floor of the Hall is all on one level. However to get to the Ballroom visitors with disabilities should go out the way they came in and then there is vehicular access to get to the Ballroom, or a good push up a bit of a slope. Once at the Ballroom, where refreshments are served, access is good, as well as to the toilets.
Most of the Garden can be visited by wheelchair users and there are some steps which can be avoided if necessary. Obviously if the ground is wet this may be more of a challenge as there are no solid paths, it is all on grass.
On the top (second) floor of Walcot Hall there are three self-catering apartments. These are all accessed off one main landing/corridor and via an outside entrance and separate staircase. The apartments are perfect for family gatherings and groups of friends who know each other well and want to get together for reunions and special occasions. Many of the rooms have two, three or four beds. Bathrooms are shared. The accommodation is by no means “shiny and new” but “quirky and comfortable”. Being the old servants quarters, the rooms are all different and the sitting rooms have an open plan kitchen within them, apart from Arni which has a stand alone kitchen. All sitting rooms have wood burning stoves. Further information is available on our website. Unfortunately there is currently no lift as it is out of order.
