Stay in one of Scotland’s finest castles

The castle can be let on a self-catered basis or groups can choose to be catered for in the castle’s Victorian Kitchen or in one of the State Rooms by our award-winning caterers. All bedrooms have their own luxurious bathroom and each apartment has a well-equipped kitchen and sumptuous living/dining space.

The Maitland Suite

The two-bedroomed Maitland suite was once the old laundries for Thirlestane Castle. Classic Singer sewing machines nod to the apartment’s past whilst large, dramatic, family portraits in the main reception room offer a sense of grandeur.

The master bedroom with its traditional metal bedstead has been finished in a gentle, soft blue. The ensuite shower room in shades of charcoal gives off the feeling of luxurious glamour. The second bedroom looks out on the Cobbled Courtyard and the dramatic roofline of the main castle. The coral accent colour reflects the rose-pink stone of castle.

The Lauderdale

Once the Butler’s Apartment, the space has been transformed into a well-proportioned one-bedroom suite offering visitors a genuinely historic Scottish atmosphere.

The baronial style that is evident in the castle’s architecture has been reflected in the bedroom with the extravagant use of the Maitland family’s tartan for the statement bed and other soft furnishings.
