Mature 9 acre Pleasure Gardens at The Garth created by a distinguished Arts and Crafts historic buildings and landscape architect Walter H Godfrey (1881-1961), present a charming setting surrounding the former parish workhouse sympathetically refurbished in Edwardian style also by WH Godfrey. The parish workhouse was originally built in 1729 by Thomas Stanford and retained the original footprint and features throughout the centuries.
