Eight hundred feet above sea level in the wonderful Peebleshire countryside, the old Victorian gardens at Portmore have been recreated by the current owners Mr and Mrs David Reid over the past 30 years.
The 1½ acre Walled Garden, which is at its height between mid-July to August, has herbaceous double borders, a potager, rose garden, pleached lime walk and ornamental fruit cages.
There are large Victorian glasshouses which contain an Italianate Grotto. Outside the Walled Garden is the Water Garden leading to a Woodland Walk and below the house a formal garden of yew and box.
