The Manor House
Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a grade 1 listed building which was constructed in the mid 16th century. Following works in 2014-2015 to the Manor we have improved accessibility for visitors with disabilities. The vast majority of the Manor can now be accessed by visitors with mobility difficulties and all but the attics and 2 rooms on the first floor can be accessed by visitors who use a wheelchair.
Llancaiach Fawr Manor House is a Grade 1 listed, award-winning living history museum set in the Civil War years.
Using high-quality historical building restoration techniques and authentic period decoration and furnishings, Llancaiach Fawr endeavours to make the past seem like the present. The house has been restored to the appearance it had in 1645, during the time of it’s ownership by the Prichard family, aspiring minor gentry who came to prominence during the later half of the Civil War. Historic interpreters role-play the servants of the household in 1645, and greet daytime visitors in character.
We also have re-created period gardens, an award-winning restaurant, themed shop and new interactive exhibition, picnic area with nearby children’s play area, and wedding and event facilities.
Please note: The information on the Historic Houses website is advisory, but please always check the website of the house or garden you intend to visit before travelling.
