Kingston Bagpuize House was fortunate not to be requisitioned during WW2 when trees in the Garden Park and East Park were felled to make room for the Nissen huts required for the War Office Camp and the aircraft Hangars for Kingston Bagpuize Airfield sited to the eat of the village.
Evacuees from the London Blitz were accommodated for a short while in rooms on the top floor of the house and after they left those rooms were occasionally used by RAF and USAF officers. Miss Raphael who bought the house in 1939 remained in residence throughout the was and was a full time member of the Women’s Auxiliary Police Corps (WAPC).
