Most of the grounds are accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs, with accessible access up to the lawns in front of the Castle. The path within the woodland is unmade and uneven in places but mostly suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs – please note this is dependent on the weather as the woodland paths can get muddy when wet.
The Castle has steps at the entrance up to the first floor and to access all floors within so is not suitable for wheelchairs and prams. Lifting services can be booked for weddings and private events in the Castle in advance if required, please contact us for more information about this service.
The Georgian House has a few shallow steps on the ground floor however ramps can be provided to make this level fully accessible.
Hedingham Castle is the most romantic and unique wedding venue in the country, comprising a 900-year-old Norman Keep and grand Georgian Country House with its elegant Ballroom Marquee, all set within 160 acres of private parkland and lakes.
Ceremonies take place in the Banqueting Hall of the Castle, under the grand double height archway and lit with a myriad of candles. Alternatively, you may say your vows outdoors, on the lawns overlooking the lake or on the Tilting Lawn of the Castle.
Receptions take place either in the stunning Georgian House and Ballroom Marquee for up to 150 guests, or for more intimate weddings of 70 or less, you can host your whole day in the Castle: dine in the atmospheric Tapestry Room then continue with drinks and dancing on the Garrison Floor above. Whatever you decide, it is sure to be the most magical experience from start to finish.

Ashley and Liam
My husband and I recently had our wedding at Hedingham and from start to finish, every person we spoke to were wonderful. The wedding showcase was so informative, the planning process was seamless, with a dedicated team to answer our questions and guide us through each step. Even though by the time of the wedding we had visited a number of times, we were still in awe with how beautiful the castle looked. I have had so many guests compliment the venue and staff, with quite a few saying it was the best wedding they’ve been to (and that was purely because of the castle and how the entire wedding was organised!). Every single staff member made so much effort with not just the larger details, but with the smaller ones as well (making me a cuppa, the bar staff learning our names etc). I highly recommend Hedingham as a wedding venue, and I really hope I get to go back as a wedding guest one day (which seems likely from what some of my guests have said). Thank you so much to all those at Hedingham!
