Please contact us in advance of visiting to help us understand your specific needs regarding accessibility, and work out the best plan. Generally, access to the historic house comes with its share challenges, especially as the building is so old.
Access into the house is not level and there is no lift inside and it is surrounded by loose gravel that can also be difficult to traverse safely. Regrettably mobility scooters are not permitted inside the house, as they are too large and lack the level of manoeuvrability needed for safe entry and exit.
Deans Court is an ancient house with fine Georgian facades, set in romantic gardens. It was formerly a Saxon monastery and has only had two owners in 1,300 years.
The current owner’s family has lived here for 500 years and the long run of ancestral portraits provides the backdrop for a remarkable example of private heritage.
The garden features a large monastic fishpond, an historic walled permaculture garden, chalk stream, herb garden, orchard, apiary and mature trees.
Deans Court is a beautiful and romantic venue for weddings, events, film & photo shoots. Amenities include holiday lets, a destination homestore and a beautiful café, set in a converted 1930’s garage, with delicious homemade food.
Please note: The information on the Historic Houses website is advisory, but please always check the website of the house or garden you intend to visit before travelling.
