Chiltern Open Air Museum

Chiltern Open Air Museum is an independent charity that was established in 1976 and opened to the public in 1981. The museum rescues building of historic interest mainly from the Chilterns area. Buildings have been reconstructed on-site mainly by volunteers. The museum runs community wellbeing and outreach programmes including Accompanied Walks for isolated over 65s. The museum receives no regular government funding and has to generate all its own income via admissions, memberships, shop and catering sales, private hire, and donations. All income generated goes back into running the museum and supporting our conservation work.
