Charge your EV when staying at Tissington Hall
The new Chair of the Tourist Board in the Peak District Sir Richard FitzHerbert is delighted with his new acquisition of an electric vehicle charger at the Grade II* property that has been in his family for over 400 years.
‘I am thrilled that we have installed this charging point on our home adjacent to the accommodation that we let out to visitors at Tissington Hall. From now on, visitors can charge their cars overnight as they stay in one of our two apartments namely Butler’s Retreat and North Wing. Both sleep two with good wifi and a tour of the Hall included. The charge point is powered from the 4kw solar display on the flat roof of the house and we have a Tesla battery that stores any extra energy that we collect. Even with a 400 year old house it is possible to introduce sustainable green energy despite planning regulations’.
One of the strands of his tenure as Chairman of Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire (MPDD) is the sustainable aspect of visitors coming to the area which includes the Peak District National Park and its easy one hour reach for 18 million people.
‘We look forward to visitors coming to stay at Tissington Hall and, after an afternoon walking the peaks and dales and then enjoying a welcoming dinner at a local hostelry, then they can charge their vehicles overnight so helping revive the local economy and protecting the environment’.
Tissington Hall works to protect important habitat
The work to protect the trees has been completed thanks to a partnership between the Peak District National Park Authority, the landowner – Sir Richard FitzHerbert of Tissington Estate, and a local contractor – Hope Valley Tree Care.
