A superb stately home at the heart of a sporting estate, home to the Dukes of Richmond and their magnificent art collection for over 300 years.

Goodwood houses some astonishing treasures, including celebrated paintings by Canaletto and George Stubbs, exquisite 18th century Gobelins tapestries gifted by Louis XV of France, an exquisite Sèvres porcelain collection, Charles I’s christening spoon and many more fascinating artworks and objects.

History comes to life at Goodwood, with a collection that reflects the family’s origins as descendants of King Charles II. Today, Goodwood remains a family home, lived in by the 11th Duke of Richmond.

Visitors can view the House and Collection by Guided Tour and enjoy a splendid Afternoon Tea in the Ballroom.

Educational Visits

Goodwood offers schools and colleges a wide range of workshops and visits to facilitate Learning Outside the Classroom, using the rich variety of sites and businesses found on the Estate. This learning programme is typically delivered through the Goodwood Education Trust (formerly West Sussex Countryside Studies Trust), a charity established by the Duke of Richmond in 1976.

The Education Officer can tailor activities to suit specific needs and learning objectives. Teachers are invited to make a pre-visit, so the activities can be discussed and risk assessments undertaken. All visits will be coordinated and usually lead by the Education Officer, assisted by Education Guides and Estate staff as appropriate.
