A Victorian Italianate Palazzo built by the owner’s great great great grandfather to designs by Sir Charles Lanyon, on a private estate of 1100 acres. It is the home of Lord and Lady Dunleath and has been in their family for 170 years.

The house is surrounded by 30 acres of pleasure grounds and is deemed to be of exceptional architectural importance.

Available for exclusive corporate and incentive lunches & dinners and, with 12 luxurious bedrooms, as a venue for small residential conferences and for historic house tour groups. It also provides numerous opportunities as a film and television location.

Tours are personally conducted by Lord and Lady Dunleath and can be tailored to specific interests.

After the tour, refreshments can be provided in the Conservatory. These need to be pre-booked for the whole group.

Please note, the house is not open to the public on a daily basis and tours or group visits are available by prior appointment only.

Getting here

Newtownards, Co Down

Ballywalter Park is located 20 miles south east of Belfast on the Ards Peninsula, between the A20 & A2 coast roads. The entrance is found  off the B5 Greyabbey to Ballywalter Road.

The Ulsterbus service runs to Ballywalter village and it is then a walk to the house.

Belfast and Belfast City Airport are within 30 minutes drive and Belfast International Airport is reached in approximately one hour. The Stena Line car ferry terminal can be reached within 40 minutes and the P&O car ferry terminal within 75 minutes.

Tours are of particular interest to groups such as Historical Societies, National Trust Members Groups, Women’s Institutes, Rotary & Round Table, Probus Groups and all those interested in Historic Houses and Gardens. From time-to-time, the house may be open more generally – in connection with charitable or other events taking place locally. However, please always check in advance before undertaking a journey.
