Families are in for a treat – not a trick – at Raby Castle’s After Dark Halloween event

Brave adventurers are invited to explore the Halloween After Dark Illuminated Trail* in The Plotters’ Forest at Raby Castle, Park and Gardens this spooky season, from Thursday 31st October until Sunday 3rd November.

The magical woodland adventure playground is transformed as dusk settles and enchanting creatures appear between the mysterious lights. Families can don their Halloween fancy dress and step through the trees encountering witches, wolves, cobwebs and eerie shadows along the way.

The Plotters’ Forest offers a thrilling adventure for all ages, celebrating the spookiest holiday of the year with sweet treats and hot drinks available from The Plotters’ Pantry to keep families cosy on their spine-tingling adventure in the heart of County Durham.

The Halloween After Dark Illuminated Trail at The Plotters’ Forest will be taking place on selected times on 31st October and 1st, 2nd, 3rd November, alongside Raby Castle, Park and Gardens’ immersive autumnal event The Glittering North.

A daytime Halloween trail will also be on offer at The Plotters’ Forest and the play equipment will be open during the experience. The daytime event is taking place on 19th and 20th October, followed by the 26th October to the 3rd November and is included in a standard Plotters’ Forest, Deer Park and Walled Garden ticket.

Over at High Force Waterfall, which is part of the Raby Estate, a pumpkins and potions trail will be available daily between 10am and 4pm from until Sunday 3rd November.

Offering Halloween family fun as well as a moment in nature, glowing pumpkins and mystical potions guide the path so little explorers can collect hidden letters and solve a spellbinding riddle.

Tickets can be booked now for the Halloween After Dark Illuminated Trail in The Plotters’ Forest and are priced adult £6.00, child £8.00 and ‘babes in arms’ go free. Timings for the after dark event across the four days are: 4:30pm – 5:30pm, 5:00pm – 6:00pm, 5:30 – 6:30pm and 6:00 – 7:00pm.

Tickets for the daytime trail are £9 for children, £12 for adults and a family ticket for two adults and three children is also available at £44. Under fours go free.

Tickets for the pumpkin and potions trail at High Force Waterfall are £11 for a family ticket (two adults and three children) or £7 for a couple’s ticket (two adults).
