Hedingham Castle to Host Afternoon Tea Event with TEDx speaker

News from our houses Things to see and do

Is it scone as in tone or scon as in gone? Is it jam or cream first on the aforementioned? What is considered the posh way to stir your tea and what should you do, in polite company, if you have a cherry or olive stone in your mouth?! These questions and more will be answered as guests explore Afternoon Tea Etiquette together at a very special event at Hedingham Castle – just in case an invitation to the Palace is on its way to you right now!

Hedingham Castle is delighted to announce an exclusive Afternoon Tea event on Friday, 16th August, in celebration of National Afternoon Tea Week. In collaboration with the renowned The English Cream Tea Company, this will be a fun, fascinating and delicious event and you’re in safe hands with speaker Jane Malyon – author of best seller: Scone or Scon(e) – the Essential Guide to British Afternoon Tea, previous TEDx speaker and Chief Scone Gnome of The English Cream Tea Company!

The experience will be set in the Tapestry Room of the 900-year-old Hedingham Castle and will include an elegant afternoon tea including freshly prepared cocktail sandwiches, a variety of cakes and pastries and of course, some very generous fruit scones accompanied with clotted cream and luxury jam, served with either tea, coffee or a glass of chilled Prosecco. The full menu is available online and gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan alternatives are also available.
