Let There be Light this Easter at Boughton House
Boughton House is looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the House and Gardens over the Easter Weekend, and this year there will be an international art exhibition to explore.
The House and Gardens, open Saturday 16th to Tuesday 19th, welcome South African artist Beezy Bailey for a special exhibition named “Let There be Light” in association with Everard Read Gallery in London.
Visitors to the House will be able to enjoy the full exhibition consisting of oil paintings within the House and bronze sculptures in the garden and will also have a choice of three tours of the House. The Great Tour: A self-led exploration of the ground floor; The Kings Tour: A guided tour of the Staterooms created for King William III; and Books, Beds and Beyond — an eclectic tour of the library, kitchen, bedrooms and attics of the House. The Exhibition can be viewed on the Great Tour.
Visitors to the vast gardens and landscape will be able to enjoy the specially created bronze sculptures by Beezy Bailey in the already magnificent gardens.
The exhibition responds to the architecture, collections, gardens and history of Boughton House. Bailey has drawn on various themes and threads including the Buccleuch art collection, the florals depicted in the fabrics in the Buccleuch family portraits as well as the Leonardo Da Vinci Madonna & Child from the Buccleuch Collection.
Tickets for the House and Gardens should be purchased online at www.boughtonhouse.co.uk. House tickets (including either the Great Tour or Kings Tour and the Gardens) cost £11 for adults, £8 for children. Additional tours cost £4pp. with the Books, Beds and Beyond tour an additional £10pp. Gardens tickets £6 for adults and £4 for children.
The House and Gardens are open Saturday 16th to Tuesday 19th, 1pm-5pm. The Great Tour can be enjoyed in visitors own time between 1.15pm and last entry at 4pm.
